Today as I entertain the many blessings of God in my life, I can’t help but recall the events of my youth.
As a youngster in the third grade of elementary school, I sold pornography. Yes, that’s right, I sold porno!
I would go ‘across the tracks’ and get pictures which would make even Husler and Playboy blush! Taking them to school I would sell them to my friends and my brothers’ friends. I made 50 cents for each picture in the early ’60’s.
Then at 14 I was arrested for burglary, theft, vandalism, arson (but not the things I didn’t get caught doing!) and my parents were devastated.
It was by God’s mercy, even when I was in porno, destroying one house to the tune of over $40,000 (remember in the 1960’s!), then involved in sexual sins of all types, molested and sexually abused many times, and having a physical and emotionally abusive mother God still brought me through.
If I had been caught and tried for all my sinful ways, I would still be in prison celebrating
this awesome holiday.
Then I married a lady who ran around on me. We had a child which I figured up and I was out of town when she conceived. The child which I took as my own, even looked like the accused ‘sperm donor’.
Later she would leave with the Choir Director of a church, then when he became a pastor, she left him because she couldn’t run the church! (poor guy, I have felt sorry for him)
BUT, through it all, God has touched my body, my mind, my spirit and I now live totally for Him. It is only through Him that I was able to find my wife now.
Yes, I am saddened that some churches do not accept me to minister because of a ‘second marriage’ but if Jesus didn’t die for all our sins, why do we serve Him?
I only know of one unforgivable sin and that is the blasphemy of the Holy Ghost.
I praise God for a wise old judge who sent me to a boys’ ranch near Amarillo, Texas. If it hadn’t been for that, there is no telling where I would be now and who I would have hurt.
Yes, I am now being used by God for evangelism. I also am the Youth Leader in our church. I have been able to tell my testimony to hundreds of youth. I was privileged to have a Christian Academy in the Dallas, Texas area where we ministered to at-risk youth.
At-risk and troubled youth are awesome. They only need someone to care for them and show them lovingly the way to Jesus.
Today think back about all the things you did as a youngster that no one but God knows about. Praise Him for His saving grace.
Thank you Lord for all your guidance, provisions, blessings, my family and my wonderful wife.
