This morning the Lord woke me up with the thought “There’s a snake in the place”. What
are we going to do with the snakes in our churches?
Yes, there are those in our churches whom the devil has put into our churches to cause division and trouble in the Body of Christ. Yes, they slither into church all ‘holy’ and ‘the good Christian’ in our midst.
Didn’t the disciples not warn us of those who would come into our churches as wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing? And yet, we welcome them with open arms.
In Acts 28:3Acts 28:3
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
WP-Bible plugin it says “and when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat and fastened on his hand. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hand on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. AND HE SHOOK OFF THE BEAST INTO THE FIRE, AND FELT NO HARM”
We as Christians must realize in our churches and our lives snakes will sliver into our area and we must see and hear the warning signs. When they rattle their rattlers, we must be able to recognize the sound and see the actions of the devil.
In Genesis 2 is the story of God creating man. He said in verse 28 “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
If God created man and then gave ‘dominion’ which means rule over all things in this earth, why do we bow and fear the devil? God has given us the ability to rule and conquer over him.
Jesus even said that “greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.” Then would we not have the power over Satan and his demons?
People will sneak into our lives and particularly those who are new, young Christians. They will drive them into the church, seemingly be good Christian people, then take them for their own.
I was speaking with a pastor in the last couple of weeks that said this particular person “is a snake!” A snake has come into his church and taken out members for their own ‘house church’.
There are churches who have been sued and taken to task for calling out those ‘snakes’ in their congregations. These people slither in for no good. They come to change the church, change theology, and confuse those who do not agree with them.
In Genesis chapter 3 we see the story of Eve and the serpent. If only she had called out to Adam “SNAKE! SNAKE! THERE’S A SNAKE IN THE HOUSE!” we would not have the sin in the world that we experience today.
When Eve took the fruit which many call an ‘apple’ but in reality we have no idea. There is nothing that says ‘apple’. It only says ‘fruit’
In reality, the scripture is not concerned with the fruit, it is concerned with what it represents. It represents sin.
If we don’t call out the snakes in our midst then eventually we will fall to sin. That’s right, the people will come against us and the pastor, begin to gossip to ‘just let you know’, or join the ‘gossip chain’ (I’m sorry that is the “Prayer Chain”!) to know what is happening in everyone’s lives.
Beware this year of the snakes. Paul was bitten by one of the most venomous, dangerous snakes in the world, but yet he just shook it off. He called it what it was, a snake.
The devil brings in people to destroy what is God is working to do in the church. When snakes get to speaking up and causing division, they must be called what they are. They must have someone go to them and confront the problem.
The Word says if they don’t listen, take a witness. If not, then take them before the church. I only know of a couple of denominations who have the guts to do what the Word of God says and call out those in our churches who are causing problems.
Will you confront the snakes or run from them? If we run from those we have the authority, power over, rule and ability to come against then they will take over our lives and churches.
This is the problem with people today. Instead of being like David and attacking our Goliath, running toward the troubles and trials in life, we retreat, hide our head in the sand and do not do battle.
We must take the authority against the devil, the snakes in our midst, and fight for what God has given us. Yes, as I say, “POSSESS THE LAND!” God has given us to rule over.
In 2013, will you do battle for God or let Satan have rule over you? It’s time for us to lop off the head of the devil and his snakes when they rise up and move in the power God has given us.
We pray you have a powerful and successful 2013. Don’t make resolutions as we all will forget those in a few months. Make a commitment to serve God in His power!
Let’s go snake hunting and call out to warn others “SNAKE! SNAKE! THERE’S A SNAKE IN THIS PLACE!”
