Good Morning…

Today is Sunday and it is the day the Lord has made, especially for us to come together to worship Him!  Praise the Lord.

Today is my first day as ‘Pastor’ at the Smith Unit in Lamesa, Texas.  What an awesome responsibility for any pastor to be asked to come and share God’s Word with a group.

I am reminded of the dreadful warning to pastors in Jeremiah 23 “Who be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.  Therefore thus saith the Lord of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings saith the Lord.”

I do not believe pastors/ministers today who stand in the presence of God and preach the Word of God have read this passage.  We have a tremendous responsibility each time we step into the pulpit to feed the sheep of God Almighty the Word He has given to us.

It is our responsibility to pray and fast to get the message He has for His people.  When we do not take our responsibility to God and His people seriously, then they are malnourished and under fed.

They are fed the weeds of life and not the green grass of the Word.  As pastors, I feel we are the ‘under shepherd’ which works under the Great Shepherd to care for the flock.  When we do not visit, tell them what God has spoken to us, then He will take us to the ‘woodshed for a whooping’ as we say in Texas.

I don’t know about you, but I have been one to go get the limb off the tree and meet God in the woodshed.  I do not want to experience that type of relationship with Him over my disobedience again!

Yes, we have a loving God, but there are times He had to tell Israel He was against them, they had sinned against Him, turned their backs and God’s revenge was coming down upon their heads and kingdom.

Today we preach ‘Grace’ as a form of total forgiveness and option for a sinful life.  Some of us as pastors have misled God’s people and He will make us pay for our bad deeds and misleading His people.

The Word speaks of prophets misleading and perverting the Word from te
