Possess the Land of Your Life

I have posted an outline and a few comments for our ‘Possess the Land!’ seminars.  You will find them to be encouraging and uplifting as we examine the ‘lands’ God has given each of us to possess.  Not only are we to ‘occupy’ (not as the Wall Street guys!) but to ‘possess’ the total land and take it back from Satan himself!  The devil has tried to destroy our lives with sin, division in our family, destroyed relationships and then you don’t want to get me started on our addictions!  (You know addictions such as TV, Internet, Facebook, drinking, gluttony, anger, sexual immorality, and obscenities all around our neighborhoods, our wills and our minds among other things.)

Please note this is an outline.  It is not the full seminar.  There are several sessions for this teaching depending on the pastor’s request.

I am posting this because many have asked “What denomination are you?” and “What do you teach?”  It is a teaching good for any Bible believing body of Christ and is non-denominational and individual ‘church belief sensitive’.

Our families, are only one ‘land’ which God has given us.  Have you possessed it?  Are you providing the leadership to your family which God intended them to have?

Let’s look at ‘IN THE BEGINNING”  That’s right, “IN THE BEGINNING”…the first book of the Word of God where God explains the order of this life.

We have perverted the order which God established and intended us to live in.  Our lives have now become total disordered, unfocused, and distracted.  Why?  Because we have forgotten what the Word of God has given us as guidelines for life.

  • Vs 26.    God said “let us make man in our own image, after our likeness’  God made mankind, yes, man and woman, male and female, in His image.  Do we look like Him, no we are ‘spiritual beings’.  We are beings which have an order for relationships; we are to follow and worship God; hear His Word; and live this life in harmony.
  • So how has that been perverted?
  1. Sin
  2. Men not leading their homes
    1. I know men, you lead your families through sitting comfortably on the sofa, in your recliner, changing channels.  Oh, yeah, we lead our families in our possession of the clicker!
    2. We lead our family by allowing them to ‘serve’ us.  ‘Honey, while you’re going to the kitchen, would you mind getting me a drink and a snack?’  Johnny, since you’re up, get me another piece of pizza?’  ( Oh, yea, you didn’t ask.  That’s being in control and ‘head of the home’?  Don’t think so…)
    3. Yes, we lead our families by having them ‘serve’ us!
  • ‘let them have dominion..’  guys, who/what do we have ‘dominion’ over?  Who do we rule over?  Oh, yes, that’s right it’s our wives and our ‘land of off spring pitter-pattering around the house!’.  They are here to serve us.  We brought them into the world, and by golly, we have the right to treat them as we want and take them OUT OF THIS WORLD!  Now, that’s being the ‘head of the house, isn’t it?’  Don’t think so!
  • DON’T BELIEVE ME?  Look over to the 22nd chapter of Genesis:
  1. Abraham heard from God.  Took Isaac to sacrifice.
  2. Wouldn’t it be nice to remove the children in this manner when they don’t behave?
  3. YOU’RE OUTTA’ HERE KID!  WIFE, YOU DON’T OBEY ME, YOU’RE OUTTA’ HERE!  I’M POSSESSING THE LAND GOD GAVE ME!  (this is why we have a  50/50 chance of successful marriages!)
  4. Abraham taught his son to honor God.  No matter what.  Abraham had such a faith, he was going to follow God’s leadership.
  • Men have become wimpy.  Adam became wimpy to start us all off right!  (at least in the eyes of the world and the devil’s order of things!)
  1. vs 2:15  God gave Adam an awesome job. He had the responsibility to care for the Garden of Eden.  Think how beautiful it must have been.  No dangerous animals, no bugs, spiders, nor snakes…..oh, yeah there was one.
  2. vs 3:1-4  the snake, deceived the woman….or did he?  With Adam right there beside her, he did get her to take the fruit.
  3. Men, Adam didn’t lead his wife.  He did not teach her as he should have.
  4. Adam ‘let’ the devil deceive her.  He didn’t speak up.
  5. e.       vs 6 He waited to see if she would really die………  ( now that’s what I call ‘leading’ the family.  Through them to the devil and see if God’s Word is true!)
  • Vs 3:12-13  Man blamed woman, woman blamed the serpent.
  1. We do not accept responsibility for our kids, our home life, our spiritual lives.
  2. We blame others  “THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT!”

Abraham trained his son Isaac

    1. He taught him to carry the load for the family.  (wood for sacrifice)
    2. He taught him not to question authority (Isaac questioned where is the lamb, not the reasons and why)
  • Proverbs 22:5-7Proverbs 22:5-7
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Train...: or, Catechise in...: Heb. in his way 7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. the lender: Heb. the man that lendeth

Amplified Bible (AMP)

‘5Thorns and snares are in the way of the obstinate and willful; he who guards himself will be far from them.    6Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it.’

  1. We must train up our children to respect adults and those over authority over us.  All of us have ‘someone’ over us.
  2. Prisoners state, “I was not taught to respect other people and their property.”
  3. Train a child by example.
    1. Go to work, fall into the chair and yell at the kids to be quiet
      1. Not just occupying a place, but being a part of the family
      2. Go golf and never be ‘with the family’
        1. Just being home does not make you a leader at home, only present in body and not in mind and spirit; certainly not leading them
        2. Don’t send your kids to church, take them;  be that leader by example!
        3. Don’t yell at them, teach them
          1. Let them get their own food, teach them how to not make a mess, not get too much (gluttony)  Instead of telling them how messy they are, how fat they have become, etc.
          2. Teach them to work and become responsible both to man and God:
            1. Mow the grass
            2. Wash the car
            3. Clean the kitchen
            4. Jesus was taught to work in his father’s shop (Joseph)
            5. He was taught God’s Word through the Holy Spirit
            6. Age 12 He was in the temple learning from the ‘teachers’ of the time.
