Now for a transition

The elections are over, but the fight has begun.

Those who are illegals are now protesting and asking for ‘safe cities’ where they can live

without being deported.  For the live of me, I don’t know why they don’t just get legal!

Someone wrote on a post on social media all the negative which come along with the Trump administration.  Honestly, I just don’t believe all that is said through the campaigns.  Those running for office will say anything to get us to vote for them.

This election is one of the most negative, rude and was totally lacking of credibility.

The step for all Christians now is to move to the next step.  Begin to pray for the President-Elect and his administration.  Pray for a smooth transfer of power and reconciliation.

In my opinion, Christians have a great job ahead.  Our job is to remember not to gossip, encourage division, and violence.  We can pray for those who are angry about the elections and have strong feelings about it.

Have a blessed day!

Election Day thoughts…

Today, November 7, 2016 is the day before one of the most important Presidential elections of all time.

It is a time of changing the future of America. America was founded on the Judaeo-Christian principals, and yet, there are many who are coming against that very thought. The thought that America could ever be a Christian nation has some just furious.

I am to minister on Revelation in 2 days. I wonder how the election might affect that teaching. How will the election show Christians that the End is Really Near?

Would anyone listen if I shouted it from the roof tops?

Does it make a different in people’s lives when evangelists or missionaries go door to door to proclaim the Word of God?

Revelation 1:17-18Revelation 1:17-18
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

says “Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that lives and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore. Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Will they listen before it’s too late?

I don’t think so, but I will die trying to get them to listen.

Keep Looking Up!

Yesterday I preached from Acts 2:42-47Acts 2:42-47
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, from...: or, at home 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

. This is the ideal way to do church. This truly primitive church shows us the proper methodology of ‘how to do’ church.

People, today we don’t know the real way to do church. We think “BIG” is better. We think louder music, bolder preaching, and programs running out the door is the way to ‘have’ church.

The disciples had the right format for church. Evangelize, disciple the people, visit people’s homes for church/Bible study.

If today’s church followed this format there would be no mega-churches. There would a “mega” or abundance of spirit-led, discipled churches seeking to get out of the walls of the church to serve their communities.

Keeping the faith

I was moving some things to Big Lake from my office in Seagraves and came across this awesome little book.  I interviewed the author who is a wonderful lady of faith.

Her name is Layne Case.  She has more than one book but the one we discussed was “Inspirations from My Family and Friends”.

The book is about struggles in everyday living with an emphasis on living for God and trusting His Word.

This time of the year so many students are headed to college for the first time.  This poem is titled “Keep the Faith” and was written to her daughter as she left home for New York and college.

Keep the Faith

It isn’t very easy

for me to let you go.

But I know it has to be this way

to help you learn to grow.

You’ve made me, oh, so proud to be

your mother, even though

I may not seem to understand

the many things you know.

I hope I’ve taught you well enough

To make these times the best

‘Cause even with the best laid plans,

God sometimes plans a test….so

Keep the faith, make sure you pray,

For HE is always near.

And, know that you will always be,

my baby, of, so dear.

Love, Mom

I fully suggest if you’re having difficulties letting go, going though things with your children, or even just every day life struggles that you look up this book on or go to and get this book and others from her collection!

Have a blessed day and remember “KEEP THE FAITH!”

It’s “new thangs” again!

Last night I was installed as the pastor at First Assembly of God in Big Lake, Texas.  (Don’t

get excited..there’s only oil here and no lake!)

The Sectional Presbyter came down and handled the business meeting and voting.  I received 100% of the votes.  Praise the Lord.  Now the time begins for work!

It is amazing how many of our Patriarchal leaders in the Word of God have given us all hope and confidence in being a sinner but yet used by God.  Abraham, Moses, and even Noah were all people used mightily by God and yet they failed Him.

In our era of life, we have experienced many ‘turn downs’ because of past sins.  Why do people get turned out from ministry because of past sins?

Do we not believe in the grace of God to bring us forward and the total regeneration of Jesus’ blood for our Atonement?

Have we forgotten the reason for Jesus’ blood?

Thank you to all who have prayed us through the past 30+ years as we have worked to become pastors and receive credentials with the General Council of the Assemblies of God.  God has truly provided a miracle and answered a long time of yearning and a strong desire in my heart.

Thank You Lord for answered prayers!

Prison ministry….Upcoming conference

I have been so blessed to hear from several of the inmates I have ministered to.  This week

English: Prison cell, Fort Leavenworth. Deutsc...

has been awesome as we’ve heard great things from the units where they are living.

Living inside the walls of a prison are very difficult for the dedicated Christian.  Many are killed and tormented by the prison gangs for their faith.

I have had the honor of ministering the Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and so many others who have made a notorious name for themselves.

Charles Manson, a very demon possessed man, who serves the devil in all ways imaginable, turned down numerous requests to come visit him.

He did write to us several times all the while attempting to get us to change to his evil faith in Satanic worship.

We have had to honor to meet and witness to notorious murderers in the Dallas, Texas area also.  One man had given away all his rights to movies, books, and other means of making money to a woman who told him she loved him.

When he signed everything over to her, she then capitalized on his pain and the pain he had inflicted on others to gain money.  He never saw a dime of it.

Yes, I do at times feel sorry for those behind bars.  I’ve spoken with those whom others have written off.  Yes, I still pray for Charles Manson the most evil man I have spoken with.

The guys and women I write to are usually seeking a relationship with anyone who will write to them.  The families have turned their backs on them.  No one cares if they ever get out or not.

Two of those guys have had their sentences overturned.  Yes, they have spent years and years behind bars to find they never did the crimes.  One is with his family now and the other who has obtained a Doctorate of Divinity strongly desires to go into ministry work.

His desire is to talk to young people and try to get them to turn from their ways and not put themselves into harms way.  He has seen many a young man walk into prison walls to be carried out, raped, beat and murdered.

Today, I talk about inmates.  I know Ellery and Thomas would appreciate the influence they have had on my life.   They along with Everett have worked in the unit’s chapel services and areas for several years.  Today, they are working to obtain a means of support and the ability to reach out with God’s love to those around them as they are set free.

Yes, inmates have done atrocities by murder, rape, incest, robbery, and many other terrible acts of violence.  They are still humans who need the Lord and many times; desire to change  and make amends for their evil ways.

One man, who has recently been told he was wrongfully convicted has spent all his life from age 13 in jail.  Today he’s in his 40’s and an awesome wood worker.  He has his doctorate degree to become a minister when he gets out.  He’ll probably go into Midland, Texas to serve the Lord.

Several churches have sought him out to work in their youth and jail ministries.  What a testimony Russell has!

Some of you have asked about “what do you talk about when you minister?”  Just what I am told by the Lord.  The Holy Spirit leads each service and many times I say things I never remembered until the Holy Spirit moves on me.  Then I speak something which blesses someone who is in the audience.

Today, we are planning a conference in Big Lake, Texas.  It will be on March 23rd until…..

The Lord will be in control and we’ll have services until He tells us to stop.  Only God

knows what He desires to do in this Reagan County of Texas.  It will be at First Assembly of God church there.

So.  If you desire to hear me preach and minister the Word of God like I do for those behind bars, come join us.  We ask even former inmates come and give testimonies, share what God has done in their lives, and help us reach the area.

Blessings and keep watching for more conference information!

The Grammy’s and SOTU Speech..

As I consider these two events, I can only suggest we all get our lives in line with God’s

Word.  Yes, there are many who would say “we’re ready” but my question is “Are we really?”

Have we permitted to much of the world into our services and left out the Holy Spirit?  Have we forgotten the Book of Acts and others which speak of the power of the Holy Spirit?

I love the passage in Acts 4:30-31Acts 4:30-31
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

We need a touch in our services and our own lives as ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The time is so near I really don’t feel we have the evangelistic model we need to have.

Evil, demonic and down right sinful lives are being placed before our eyes.  Yet, we do not feel the true urgency of the disciples of yester-year to reach the unsaved.  There are many of us who are actually ashamed of the Gospel and do not share this life giving message of God.

The Holy Spirit is desiring to move in a great and mighty way.  Are we ready for that move or are we still stuck in our own ways and methodologies of ministry?

Six things ministries are to do for the kingdom

Prayer Mormon

In Jeremiah chapter 1 we read the 6 things he was to do.  He was called of God to further the kingdom of God and the people through these 6 activities.  How different is today’s ministry?

In verse 10 we read “see, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.”

As ministers of the Gospel, we too are to ‘root out’, ‘pull down’, ‘destroy’ and to throw down and then build and plant.

Many times when we enter a new season in a new place of ministry, there is a need to rid the weeds in the harvest of the kingdom.  There are those who ‘sneak’ into a Body of Christ who have not been called there or are only there to keep the sheep anxious and stirred up.

Today, the devil is trying anyway he possibly can to divide the sheep and conquer there.  As ministers we must make difficult decisions at times to ask those to leave and ‘root out’ the evil in the fold.

Many times, if only we will get on our knees, prayer will bring about action from God and we don’t have to do anything.  God will move them problems out.

Then the ‘pull down’ of strongholds.  The devil puts strong holds on God’s children.  We must pray and pray to pull down those strongholds of bitterness, unforgiveness, hurt feelings, pain and sufferings, and gossip.

Yes, gossip comes in many forms.  The one I like is the ‘prayer chain’.  It is many times nothing more than a place to find out who’s having what problems.

Love Long Distance

Another is “Pastor can I just share with you?  I’m not talking bad about anyone but….”  And we’re off in a gossip session.  Personally, I’ve began to say, well since there is so much problem we need to pray for them.”  After I’ve prayed I ask them to go with me to the home of the person with the problem.  Usually that ends to conversation.

“To throw down” is a difficult one also in that it involves people.  Throwing down the evils and advances of the enemy to rid not only others lives, but our own of temptations, evil thoughts, and destructive conversations.  We must realize the power Christ has given us over these powers of the world.

“To destroy” those same problems is done through prayer also.  Staying in God’s Word, meditating on it day and night, and then praying for God’s help in conquering those devises.

Satan will do all in his power (which isn’t much) to bring us down.  Our job is to speak against those thoughts, feelings and situations which tend to bring us to our knees and weaken the flesh and faith.

Faith in God is utmost in all these circumstances.

Then, we get to build and plant!  Now comes the true victory and celebrations!  When we’ve pulled down strong holds, pulled up the weeds and destroyed those things which hinder us, we begin to build our faith in God. We seek Him.  Seek and digest His Word into our total beings.

Now we get to build our own faith as we celebrate the goodness of God and plant into other people’s lives.  Planting involves more than just preaching and praying.  It is about relationships, guidance, and teaching, mentoring those who are new believers.

New believers cannot be put out amongst the wolves and expect them to fight off all battles

themselves.  Satan will attack with all his  power to bring down a new believer.  It is the job of the more mature believers to hold them up, lift their arms in prayer, and mentor them.  Show them how to do spiritual battle!

Being a minister or a believer has its joyous moments and its heartbreak.  We must have total faith in God and rely on Him to bring us through to accomplish His work.  It is difficult at times but through prayer, fasting, and God’s Word we can accomplish what ever the task is before us.

January 9, 2014

Mark Jones

Mark Jones

Yesterday was an eventful day for Beth and I.  It was 7 years ago (from yesterday) that I went into the hospital for 2 months.

It was during that time, my family was told I would not make it through the night.  God had other plans for me though.

Today, I am the pastor at an awesome church. Yes, it’s small, but so are the problems.  TheAbandoned

new is wearing off, and now the church can move forward.

All churches have difficulties.  Difficulties are what makes our faith raise.   Without the rise in our faith, the only thing left is to close it.

Our faith must increase as well as our zeal for the unsaved.

In 2014, I totally expect this small church to become a pillar in the community and lighthouse for faith.  I believe God has some wonderful things in store for this church.

First Assembly of God church in Big Lake, Texas has seen the rough days.  They have witnessed division, betrayal, and abandonment.  Now, they have God’s grace and His love to carry them through.

It is now time to move forward.  All churches have a season through which there is no growth numerically.  Whether it is poor public relations, lack of leadership, or just basically a season to sit and bask in God’s presence, there is still a time of no obvious growth.

Sometimes it is just being in the right spot a...

Sometimes it is just being in the right spot at the right time. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

We have been through a time of spiritual growth.  Now it is our time to move forward, outward and grow inwardly.  Spiritual growth brings the inward growth.  Vision brings about forward movement and evangelism brings the outward works.

Inward, Outward, and Upward growth brings about the dawning of a new day!

God is good when we wait upon Him.  We must spend quiet time basking in His presence and soaking up the power, encouragement, and love He has for us.

God bless and we’ll see you on the rebound!

Today’s devotional

I am reading a new book titled “From the Library of Charles Spurgeon.  Selection from

Spurgeon near the end of his life.

Spurgeon near the end of his life. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Writers who influenced his spiritual journey.”  It is a book stuffed with great works from various writers.  Great for devotional times.  The following is an excerpt from that book by Thomas Gouge.

“At your first awakening in the morning, consecrate unto God the freshest of your thoughts by lifting up your heart to Him in praise and thanksgiving for the comfortable rest and refreshment He vouchsafed unto you last night.  For, had not the Lord been the more gracious unto you, you might have slept the sleep of death; yes, you might have awoken with hell-chimes about you rears.  What cause have you, therefore, to bless God for the mercies of the night — and the same for the renewing of His mercies with the day!”

He goes on to we must have serious meditation on the glorious attributes of God Almighty:

1.  Of His infinite purity

2. Of the almighty power of God

3.  Of God’s continual presence about you, and with you

4.  Of the omniscience of God, how he knows all things

When we wake with God on our hearts, the day will become much more desirable as we walk in His pathway for our lives.
God bless,

Have a blessed day and see my other posts on ‘’
